Step Up and Be a Club Ambassador!

Happy New Year! Have you made your resolution for 2018 yet? If not, you still have a few more days before the Year of the Rooster ends and the Year of the Dog begins on February 16!

What about you? Would you like to become an ambassador for your club? Have you started to other clubs in your area/division? If so, why not share what you have learned, your observations and comments with your fellow toastmasters?

During the past few months, we have new ambassadors as well as returning ones.

A total of eight toastmasters have signed on as club ambassadors, including New Ambassadors, Patty Sherin and Jenny Liu, who has visited seven clubs so far this toastmaster year.

What did you admire most about the club practices?

  • Club meeting themes are posted on the club's website; club open house had a very large guest turn-out
  • The meeting was well-organized, and the Toastmaster and functionaries were proactive about time management.
  • Lots of written feedback as well.
  • The ah-counter puts a bean in a tin can each time a person uses a crutch word.
  • The club has the official club banner display prominently at the front of the meeting location to focus the front of the meeting location. It provides strong branding for guests including myself.
  • Since one of the speakers presented on her book, the round-robin style evaluations worked effectively for feedback and engagement of more attendees.
  • In addition, the topicsmaster brought props to play various roles (e.g., customer, representative, supervisor) in responding to customer service questions with humor and imagination.
  • I loved how naming a club with a theme of wellness is integrated throughout the meeting with speeches, table topics, and evaluations for a meaningful experience.

We hope you too will be a club ambassador and visit clubs in and out of your area, division, and district. If you are visiting other cities or countries, find a club and visit. Ideas will be exchanged as well as friendship.
