District 4 Toastmasters —

Unlocking Our Potential

Fellow Toastmasters, my name is Tony DeLeon and I am the District Governor for 2008-2009. I have been with Toastmasters since June of 2001 and to be honest, it was only supposed to be for a little while...you know just a few speeches and move on with my life.

But something happened and I got more involved with my home club, San Mateo Toastmasters, holding several offices -- Sergeant at Arms, VP of Education, and then served two terms as President. Before you know it, I was known as Tony "the Toastmaster".

As Past President I could not sit still. I chaired a successful Area contest which gave me the confidence to enter District leadership as an Area Governor (D5 2004-2005), Division D Governor (2005-2006), Public Relation Officer (2006-2007), and Lieutenant Governor Marketing (2007-2008).

Toastmasters is an organization that has help me unlock my potential with the help of my fellow club members. At the same time I also have grown as I help others achieve their goals. With this inspiration, my theme for the year will be "District 4 Toastmasters — Unlocking Our Potential".
